Tourists who travel from Beijing to Tianjin on weekends by C-train easily find that they are surrounded by passengers from Beijing. They even feel they still stay in Beijing as they run into Beijingese everywhere in Tianjin. Actually, tourist from Beijing and Tianjin take each other’s city as their primary destination for weekend tour since the debut of Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway on Aug. 1.

Zhan Bei and her family, who arrived at Beijing South Railway Station at 9 am on Sunday morning, could only get tickets for the train to depart at noon. In addition, the tickets for the train, by which they scheduled to leave Tianjin for Beijing at 4 pm, had been sold out. On the train, they were surprised with the high occupancy. The 30 minutes’ journey gave them no time to experience the feeling of “almost flying” when they arrived at Tianjin Railway Station.

When having their lunch at Nanshi Cuisine Market, they learned that the customers of the neighboring table were also of a family from Beijing. Afterwards, they went to Wudadao, a scenic spot, where they tended to enjoy the scenery by a horse-drawn coach. However, the coach was rented by a family from Beijng. They had to travel by tramcar, and found most passengers around them were either living or working in Beijing.

Tao Dongfang, who is at the age of 68, told The Beijing Daily that he and his wife just wanted to have such splendid experience.

“It is reported that the train takes only 28 minutes to get to Tianjin. We’ll come back after we have the Goubuli steamed stuff bun,” he said.

Xu Yitian, another tourist, said that there are less people in Tianjin compared to Beijing, and the commodity price is lower.

Zhang Bei also noted the amazing beautiful scenery in Tianjin. She said that there are on web many BBS concerning the one-day tour in Tianjin. Zhang added that the average fee for the tour is only around 200 yuan.

According to officials from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Railway, Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, China’s first high-speed rail line, has transported 1,831,000 passengers since its August 1 opening. The number of passengers who travel by high-speed railway is 2.5 times of the same period of last year.
